Creating a sense of Community at your event
A great way to leave a feel-good impression for your attendees is to offer a community service opportunity within your time together. Here are some ways to make it happen;
- Teambuilding event. This is an engaging way of getting small groups/ teams of people together with a common objective. We’ve done quilts for women’s shelters, boxed food for global distribution, helped with “helping hands”, and stuffed bag of school supplies.
- Repurpose those flowers. A pro team can come in and handle this, or your VIPs can get down and dirty by pulling out flowers and putting into a simple vase to be taken to a nearby hospital or shelter.
- Partner with a Non-Profit. If a cause has caught your attention, and you’re organizing an event of like-minded people, why not share the stage? Invite the organization to come in and give a three minute pitch about who they are, what they do, and how the people in the room can become involved. This is a great way to open peoples eyes to small/ local non-profits and really gives smaller organizations a platform to get their word out.
- Donate everything, and encourage others to do the same. Instead of exhibitors and sponsors going through the expense and aggravation of shipping promotional giveaways back to their offices, see if there is a local school/ shelter/ hospital who could use their pens, reusable totes, stress balls, notepads, etc
