Looking Ahead to 2016: Hotels

6. W and Element Hotels 15th and Chestnut St, Philadelphia
Opening: 2017
Just behind the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia hotel, a new Starwood-run W Hotel and Element Hotel are planned to debut in 2017. The property will hold 295 rooms under the W Hotel brand and another 460 in the Element by Westin. Construction on the project is underway.

 

7. Aloft Hotel at Liberty Title & Trust Building at the Convention Center 101 North Broad St, Philadelphia
Opening: 2017
A 178-room Aloft Hotel by Starwood, is slated to open in 2017. The new hotel will be situated right next to the Pennsylvania Convention Center, and will offer its guests direct access to the entrance lobby of the Convention Center right off the Avenue of the Arts.

 

8. Kimpton Hotel Vine Street, Philadelphia
Opening: 2018
Kimpton will be adding a third property to their Philadelphia holdings in 2018 when they open a 199-room hotel. This new Philadelphia property will be Kimpton’s third adaptation and renovation of a historic building in Philadelphia.

 

9. Hudson Hotel 17th and Chancellor St, Philadelphia
Opening: 2018
Hudson hotel will rise 12 stories and fill the small parcel of land on 17th Street between Chancellor and St. James streets. According to plans from locally based DAS Architects, the new high-rise hotel will feature more than 300 rooms, 40 executive suites, high-end amenities and food and beverage options — including a proposed dining venue on the penthouse floor with panoramic city views.

 

10. Four Seasons Hotel at Comcast Innovation & Technology Center 18th and Arch St, Philadelphia
Opening: 2018
To be housed within the upper floors of the 1,121-foot Comcast Innovation & Technology Center that is currently under construction on the 1800 block of Arch Street, the new 220-room Four Seasons Philadelphia Hotel is scheduled to open in 2018 when the new tower is completed. The new luxury hotel will include more than 200 rooms, a spa, fitness facilities, event and meeting space, as well as a breathtaking new restaurant located on the top floor of the building.

 

1. ROOST Rittenhouse 1831 Chestnut St, Philadelphia
Opening: Open Now
Travelers seeking to rest their heads in Philadelphia for more than a brief stay have another a brand new option: ROOST Apartment Hotel opened its second Philadelphia location. The apartment-style hotels include all the services of a boutique hotel with the amenities of a luxury apartment.

 

2. The Logan 1 Logan Square, Philadelphia
Opening: Open Now
The Logan underwent an extensive renovation before opening and features a new spa and fitness center as well as a breathtaking rooftop lounge. Urban Farmer, a steakhouse with a farm-to-table vibe, is on the hotel’s first floor.

 

3. AKA University City in the FMC Tower 30th and Walnut St, Philadelphia
Opening: Spring 2016
The FMC Tower at Cira Centre South will rise 49 stories on the west bank of the Schuylkill River and the upper floors will hold the new luxury extended-stay AKA University City. In addition to spectacular views, guests will enjoy the building’s 21,000 square-feet of retail as well as “Cira Green,” a breathtaking new rooftop park.

 

4. SLS LUX Philadelphia Hotel & SLS International Residences 301 S. Broad St, Philadelphia
Opening: 2017
The SLS LUX Philadelphia Hotel & SLW International Residences is going to be the tallest residential building in Pennsylvania when completed.The SLS will rise 47 stories, with 152 boutique hotel rooms and 90 luxury condominiums on the higher floors.

 

5. The Study at University City at Drexel University 33rd and Chestnut St, Philadelphia
Opening: 2017
Study Hotel is an urban-style hotel in partnership with Drexel University. The 145,000-square-foot hotel has plans to include 212 rooms, around 7,000 square feet of meeting space, a 105-seat restaurant and a fitness center.
