Negotiating for Events
Balancing an event budget is a tricky act that takes skill and negotiation. You have to prioritize based on each event while sacrificing nothing. Here are some tips that we’ve learned along the way;
- Be kind. You’re more likely to get some wiggle room by being kind.
- Be flexible. If you create an engaging conversation it gives the other party the opportunity to reveal what areas they can offer. Engaging in the conversation allows both parties to feel good about where they end up.
- Be honest about your end goal. The fastest way to get where you need to be is to share it!
- Be appreciative. It’s commonsense, but if someone has worked with you to help get the job where it needs to be, show some appreciation. After all, it’s free!
